Description:
The ALASEA NETWORK is a non-profit that has created a project titled the PORTRAITS OF FORGOTTEN WOMEN, that goes inside women's prisons to paint their portraits, interview, and give them a voice using our platform. Artist Adrienne La Faye is traveling to five national women's prisons to introduce herself to Black women and share her drug addiction and incarceration story. We know our history hasn't given Black women the same opportunities that are enjoyed by the majority.
We hope that when the paintings are finished, La Faye will return to give each innate and staff a private art exhibit. Adrienne believes that Black women especially need platforms to educate and, most of all, hear them when they speak. Most of these have been forgotten.
The Alasea Network reaches out into the community to teach all races, Adults & youth in recovery. and K-12 how to paint, and create.
